Garden

We bought the book for square foot gardening.  I’ve been wanting a veggie garden – and support my local growers by going to the local farmer’s markets.  Some great veggies were bought (and eaten!) last year.  I thought I’d try my hand at gardening.  I don’t have much of a green thumb… so… well.. kinda scared here, but we’re giving it a try.

Mike and I made 4 boxes with wire mesh and weed stop material on the bottom.  Each one is 4ft by 4ft.

I had a guy from work (that also has a farm) graciously bring us some dirt/manure/compost.  And he brought it over for free!  Then I had some free labor (I love seeing my kids work and sweat! LOL) put it into the wheelbarrows and take it to the boxes.

Then we planted the seeds and plants that I bought.  Now we are just praying it grows!  The pic below was taken at 4:00 pm, so the boxes get alot of full sun before the shade creeps in on them.

I had to take this pic- it is of Addie, the neighbors sweet dog.  She was quite curious what we were doing in our yard.

Alphabet Inchies Swap

I’ve participated in another inchie swap on Craftster.  This time it was the alphabet.  I made mine and sent them off, but I haven’t gotten all my inchies back yet.  I’ll have to post what I get later, but here are the inchies I sent out.

EEPP Swap – My loot!

I have also received from my partner in the EEPP Swap.  She really nailed “me” and my personality.  Look at this awesome embroidered panel she made me! 

And then look at this cute magnet!  The girl really went all out and I’m so very excited!

Tea Towel Set

I’m working on a 3 tea towel set for the awesome couple that gave us that garden soil.  I’m not finished yet, but here’s a pic of the first one done.

And this is the one I’m working on now.  The third is a duck.  All the patterns are from Hoop Love on flickr (LOVE FLICKR!)

Angel BOM

I’ve been working on a embroidered BOM quilt that will be a Christmas present this year.  I am not behind on it (yay me!) and this is the WIP for April’s pattern, with Jan-Mar in the back ground.  I’m doing it in all blue work.  Can’t wait to see it finished!

Belize

Crab Apples

And, I’ve been doodling.  I’ve been inspired by quotes lately and created this new embroidery pattern.  Well, then instead of stitching it – I watercolored it.

It’s going to my hairdresser David.  He’s an awesome guy and doesn’t charge us much.  He’s been having this one customer kinda of grate on his nerves (and we’ve been praying about it).  So I made this sign for him to hang in his booth area.  Maybe she’ll get the point?

I also got a watercolor kit that was on sale.  It’s called Paint with Jane (Seymore).  So, I opened it, got out the paper and paint, found a glass of water, popped in the DVD and went to work… following Jane’s instruction.  It was horrible!  I tried really hard, but my flowers just looked like ugly blobs on paper.  So, after 6 failed attempts, I started painting a doodle (robot again ).  It’s not great, but ya know it’s the best that came out of that watercolor experiment.   I’m not giving up yet, but geez I’ve got a ways to go…. LOL

Now with my threads looking all pretty – on to some free embroidery patterns!  My dd who is only 10 years old has started embroidery as well.  She even wrote a short essay on it at school to “teach” others how to backstitch.  She’s ever so good at it – even if she does get a little impatient and her stitches start getting really long. LOL  She’s seen me doodling and putting free patterns out there – well she’s decided to do one as well.  She and a friend of hers draw these awesome pictures of “Big Head Animal Babies”.  So she’s drawn one in the fashion of a duck – diaper, bill, and web-feet included.  So, without further ado – I give you Kacie’s first embroidery pattern:

I think it’s adorable – and the duck is perfect for the Spring we are anxiously awaiting!  Not to be outdone by my daughter, I have to offer a few patterns as well.  So with St. Patty’s day up ahead – here’s a few embroidery patterns that you can stitch in preparation.

Don’t you just love to wake up hearing birds chirping and singing?  I can’t wait til Spring where I can see them going to and fro building nests & singing a song.  Below you’ll find two pages full of bird patterns and sayings.  I was definately inspired by the quotes.  I do hope you love them half as much as I do - and if you use a pattern, please comment and let me know – would love to see some patterns turned into beautiful artwork!
