Gorgeous Hairbands – Easy & Cheap to Make!

Over the holidays my daughter, Kacie, kept wearing my sister’s hairband. It was a cute hairband – and looked adorable on her.

I was sure we could make one, but didn’t have all the supplies on hand.

So yesterday we went to a dollar store, picked up a few supplies and played.

We had fun giggling,

Kacie had fun modeling,

and she’s got some great hair accessories to prove it!

Now we want to make more!

I think these would make awesome gifts too.

Felt Pins

I’m new to this felt thing. Honestly I’m rather picky about it as I don’t want things just laying around the house gathering dust – which is what I equated felt stuff (and plastic canvas contraptions) as doing. But through group therapy (and PipStitch’s cutey), I decided to embrace felt and give it a chance… Plastic Canvas still eludes me though…

When trying to figure out how to make pins/buttons for Renee’s shower this weekend, felt came to mind and I embraced it.

I’d seen several people make these cute broaches using felt, so I decided to give it a go.

I totally winged it and I love the result! Made from felt, embroidery thread, ribbon w/ glitter glue, and pin backs – too cute! Oh and see the one that says “Big Cuz”? My daughter made that felt button – her first blanket stitch. She rocked it!

I’ll be wearing the one that says Aunt KK

Robots in Spring – Free Bee Pattern!

I’ve been doodling robots this week for some reason. Not quite sure what inspired me, perhaps it was a silly shirt that my son bought last weekend. I’m so ready for Spring that my robot doodles ended up doing different spring activities like picking flowers, flying a kite, and Easter egg hunting. The more I drew them, the more I wanted to stitch them, so I made them into patterns. I do hope you like them – just click on the picture to get to the pdf version.

I also got a watercolor kit that was on sale. It’s called Paint with Jane (Seymore). So, I opened it, got out the paper and paint, found a glass of water, popped in the DVD and went to work… following Jane’s instruction. It was horrible! I tried really hard, but my flowers just looked like ugly blobs on paper. So, after 6 failed attempts, I started painting a doodle (robot again ). It’s not great, but ya know it’s the best that came out of that watercolor experiment. I’m not giving up yet, but geez I’ve got a ways to go…. LOL

Valentine Embroidery

With valentine’s day on its way I couldn’t help but start doodling hearts. Hearts and more hearts – then I had to doodle some puppy love and love birds. I wanted to doodle a lovebug, but it just never came out right. I think I’m going to make my hubby a pair of boxers and embroider a couple of hearts on it. HAHAHA He might not wear them though! LOL Vday is one of my favorite holidays – as I am lucky in love I hope you all enjoy!
