I’ve been crafting my heart out for swaps at Crafster.org. I must admit that I’m am becoming quite addicted!

First off to show the items I made for the Big Bang Theory swap. The gallery is here if you want to check it out and see all the other awesomeness that was created. I love this tv show and Sheldon has got to be my favorite character! If you are fan of the show then you have surely heard of the addition to Rock, Paper, Scissors….

yes I give you Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock .

This is a pretty large (19 x 26??) wall hanging that I embroidered. I love it and it was very hard to part with it.

Next, I made some smaller items like these coasters and tea glasses:

And then I made the bag of all bags… Yes.. A SHELDON bag

The next Swap I’m participating in is the Pin Cushion Swap (Round 11). It’s gallery is here if you want to check it out. I had never made pin cushions before, and have found that they are quite addicting and fun! They are quick to make and pretty much instant gratification. Also a great way to use scrap material!

Here’s all the items that went into the package. While we only had to do the pin cushion, my partner and I agreed to “spoil” each other. The tea towel was fun to embroider – not one of my designs, but actually an Iron-On one from “Aunt Martha’s”. The card is one of the first cards I made and discussed in a previous blog entry.

This is a small bottle cap pin cushion. It’s made from a 2-liter bottle cap (hence the name), ribbon, stuffing and a scrap piece of fabric. Very little and very cute

Here’s the main pin cushion. It’s a tree with an owl peeping through. My partner is a Christian (like me ) and right now has really been focusing on the 9 fruits of the Spirit. To celebrate this, I made 9 pin toppers (3 apples, 3 oranges, 3 lemons) each with a different Fruit of the Spirit on it. I really think that my partner will enjoy these gifts.

I’m in two more swaps as well – an “Embroider my Spring Apron” swap and a traveling Gnome swap. Both sound like fun and I’ll post updates when I can. I have also designed 3 St. Patrick’s day patterns and hope to get those out tomorrow so you can Irish it up on St. Patty’s day.

Keep Kraftin’

Kandra

Hello everyone! I hope that all have had a great Christmas! We spent some time in Little Rock and had a great time seeing friends and family. We got home late Saturday night and I spent most of yesterday playing with my ancient/ghetto sewing machine. I do hope to get a new one soon!!!! I’m not much of a seamstress, and I hope to improve my skills, but until then, I’ll keep plugging away at the more simple projects

First I made some coasters, we needed some and so rarely do I keep the crafts I make for myself, so I was indulgent I found the pattern and instructions on Martha Stewart’s site. They were really easy to complete and fun to make. I love the fabric too!

As you can see above, the next project I tackled was a coffee sleeve. I searched for a pattern online to use and couldn’t find one – all that I found referred to using a cardboard one. So Mikey – the ever so awesome hubby – drove to Starbucks and picked me up a White Chocolate Mocha… and wouldn’t ya know it – attached was the cardboard sleeve I needed to use to make the pattern.

I added about 1/2 inch all the way around the cardboard sleeve and cut out two pcs of fabric. Then I embroidered my caffiene monster on some other fabric, attached it to the front, put wrong sides together and sewed up. Turned it right side out, added some velcro and batting and Voila! Reversible, Reusable Coffee Sleeve I hope to make some more and if I do, I’ll post a pattern.

Then I took on a pattern in book form!

My sister got me this awesome book called Simple Sewing for Christmas (along with some awesome fabrics, ribbons, and cute little lime green basket for it to all go in!). In the book there is a pattern of a patchwork pot holder. I felt ambitious and made TWO! I embroidered a fairy on some plain material, then followed the easy directions in the book. I did deviate on one of them and added a pocket for your hand to slip in.

Hopefully I can get these embroidery patterns of the cooking fairies uploaded soon! They are so cute and I’d love to share them! As you can see I’ve been having some fun with my sewing machine and my small fabric stash

Keep Kraftin’
