Can you believe that it’s actually AUGUST?!? Where did the summer go? With August comes back to school shopping for school supplies, new clothes, new shoes, and a new book bag. But this year Kacie didn’t want just any ol’ book bag, she wanted a custom made momma special.
Lukewarm is NOT for me!
I admit it. I had gotten lukewarm in areas of my life. Have you ever been there? Where you just take things as they are, meandering here and there, but lacking the passion you once had?
Get off your bootay and Zumba!
I’m sure that if you have been going to a gym or watch late night informercials, you’ve heard of Zumba. I love it! In about one hour of shaking my bits and pieces, much of which begins an aftermath of jiggling and giggling, I can burn between 650 to 700 calories. WOOHOO! [...]
Pressing On
Do you ever let your past haunt you? Does it take your joy? Does it take your peace? It’s so easy to look at our past and let it drag us down. I know personally, I can let my past eating habits or even how fit I used to be (a lifetime ago) sidetrack me [...]
Wonka Wonka Wonka
I’m in a swap where we have a theme and we all make 3.5 inch squares to share and then quilt them together. Our August theme is primary colors – we can only use red, yellow and blue fabrics. Some of the blocks being sent are pieced (amazingly so!), some are applique. I’m an applique [...]
And the journey continues…
One of the reasons I moved my blog from Sibling Craftery to Kandra Young was because I wanted to document my weight loss journey. And a journey it truly is. I started in January – not with the usual lose weight new year’s resolution, but with the resolution that I would not let my being [...]
Christmas in July
July 30th, 2010
Kandra With all of the homemade gifts I’m planning on giving this year, I knew I needed to get started.
This is the finished quilt top for someone quite special. I think I’m going to either quilt it “in the ditch” or 1/4 lines around the squares – like a grid. I’m not quite sure yet. I’ve got at least two other lap quilts to make, a smaller quilt, and then several wall hangings. Feels so good to get some of it going! Now, if I can only keep up this momentum!

Sewing Up A Storm
July 25th, 2010
Kandra I was gonna be all cool and blog only one post per project I’ve completed since last month. But I trashed that idea and figured I’d catch ya all up in one super post. So go grab you a drink and sit a spell, cause its gonna take a bit of time to get through all these projects and photos.
Second Guesses
July 23rd, 2010
Kandra First steps are always so hard for me to take – but it is that second step that is the hardest for me. I’m a second guesser. Know one of those? I’m always second guessing if I’m making the right decision. Did I just make the right decision? Is God really calling me to do that? Where’s my blinking neon sign pointing me in the right direction?
I’m currently at those cross roads and waited a year before taking that first step. Wondering if it was right. Now, it is time for the second step. The Doozy. The one that I keep second guessing.
Christmas in July Swap
July 22nd, 2010
Kandra Craftaholics Anonymous hosted a Christmas in July Swap. I love swaps, so I just COULD NOT resist. Seriously, my mind was saying “Enough already, Kandra” and my fingers were clicking the “Sign me up” button.
We could send anything made with our crafty fingers to our partner, in turn someone else would send us something too!
The gal that sent to me doesn’t have a blog, but she did have facebook and we’re friends now on it. That’s pretty cool. She sent me this awesome magnetic board.
My daughter promptly stole it and put it in her room. I think those little button magnets are just too freakin’ adorable!
My partner has a blog, but no posts on it. I can understand that! But she sent me a little intro to who she was. She even teaches scrapbooking sometimes at JJPaperCo. She also loves to sew and collects pin cushions. I was already in the pincushion mode with the Flickr Scrappy Pincushion swap (I haven’t posted that yet… Oh wow!) , so I made my partner a pin cushion. I gave her one of these treasure boxes. The other one went to a dear friend of mine at work.
All in all, a pretty stress free swap and one that was enjoyable! It is always fun to get stuff in the mail – even if you goofy daughter steals it!
