Do you love to read? I do. I can’t even go to sleep at night without reading before closing my eyes. I haven’t picked up and read a real live book in years. I had one of the first IPads and used it to read. Then about 2 years ago I bought my first Kindle. I just love being able to carry a whole library with me. What do you prefer? Real book or digital? My son has books stacked on books and just can’t switch to digital.
One of my friends, Amy Matayo, is an author. And ya’ll, she’s a good one. She’ll have you laughing, contemplating, and sometimes tearing up. I love reading her books and they are so diverse! The most recent book she’s released is Thirteenth Chance. This heartwarming story of a quirky cat, it’s even quirkier owner and their neighbor was charming and refreshing. It had me literally laughing out loud at the lengths Olivia would go to sometimes. I think perhaps I found a little bit of her hardheadedness really familiar. Never the one to fall for a baseball player, Will slowly but surely made his way into my heart. These two are seriously the odd couple, one who walks her cat on a leash and another that is really superstitious before games, but I love how they interacted with one another. They cracked me up and I loved how different they were! The flirtation, the different situations, the pretend relationship, everything just comes together for a really great read.
I haven’t read a book or novella of Amy’s that I haven’t enjoyed immensely. I love how she describes situations, makes you giggle as you read, but can really hit at the hard to discuss issues sometimes. Her characters seem like people you’d meet and are dealing with real stuff. I’ve never been a big fan of switching point of view books – but for some reason, I love reading them when Amy writes them. She’s really good at what she does!
