As I’ve stated in a previous post, I am Type 2 diabetic and my last A1C was 9.1. NOT a good number. So this morning I woke up and took my fasting blood glucose, like a good little diabetic should, and it was 260. Ya’ll… that’s way high. If you are pre-diabetes (and my goal!) fasting levels are 100 to 125. Above that… ew. And as much as I hate to admit it, that’s the first time I’ve checked my fasting levels in over a month (maybe even two). Yeah. I know. Stop judging! 😛
Last night I did have a few margaritas which are a sugary mixed drink and probably influenced that value significantly. However, I don’t know how significant that increase from normal might have been because I’ve failed to take (and track) my fasting levels for so long. Let’s get this straight. As much as I want to lose weight (and continually fail at it), my number one goal is to lower that fasting number. I do not want to be put on insulin.
So I’m going to commit to tracking my fasting glucose daily and posting it. I’m currently looking at some graphing widgets I might use for here so I can easily update it. Wish me luck as I try to get this number down! Current: 260, Goal : 120
