Carter’s Quilt

One of my closest friends was blessed with the birth of a grandson. Carter is an absolute cutie, but he does need your prayers.

He was born early, due in early February and delivered in late December.  We knew that there were going to be complications due to the ultrasounds.  I don’t remember the medical term for it, but his belly didn’t close up all the way and he had part of his intestines outside his body.  They’ve had to cut some of that off and he now has short gut.  He’s still in the hospital, but he is a little fighter and doing well!  Just keep those prayers going! :)

I had to make him a quilt.  I had made his sweet cousin a girly stripe quilt (I can’t find where I posted it… perhaps I didn’t and thought I did!).  I was trying to figure out a good pattern to make when I stumbled across this one – the Peek A Boo Bear Quilt from Shiny Happy World. It was just too adorable to pass up, and so the making of the bears began.  I really loved the pattern and the ease of it… and the overall cuteness!

I hand quilted around each block with embroidery floss and hand stitched the binding.  If I were to do anything different with it, I would have done some FMQ in matching thread in the background of each bear block.  Probably just some loops, but I think it would have helped the bears pop a bit more.

All in all a success though! I hope Carter loves his new quilt and has fun having belly time on it, snuggling under it,making it into a fort and just generally finding comfort in it!
