Shirts for River

My adorable niece River, is turning one. ONE! Where the heck did the time go???

Seriously, it was just yesterday that she came home from the hospital… sporting a fantabulous embroidered onesie with the ship FireFly on it.

Now she’s up walking around and… ok looking absolutely adorable!

Last year around this time I had made her a baby quilt and some embroidered onesies to wear.  The onesies were truly geeked out as they were Joss Whedon themed.

This year I made her some embroidered shirts to wear.  And yes.  They are geeked out too.

I made one for the Dr. Who fans. (Dr. Who is freakin’ awesome! And those gas masked kids saying “Are you my mummy” are creepy!)

I made one for the Serenity/Firefly fans. (River is named after River Tam for those not in the know… )

I made TWO for the Big Bang Theory fans.
(Oh heck yeah, had to do the Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock diagram on a shirt!)

(Everyone should know the kitty song! “Warm kitty, soft kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr”)

Seriously I had fun making these.  And with so many awesome shows that her mom and I like to watch there are a ton more that could be made.

I’m positive River will rock these geek shirts like no one’s business.  She’s geek sheik ya know!

River is definitely the cutest geeky baby I’ve ever seen. She’s lucky to have a crafty aunt like you! Keep it up and the other kids will definitely be scratching their heads at her ensembles in school. (:

  5. These are all adorable! You’ve given me a great idea for baby gifts when there just isn’t time for a baby quilt. (I’m showing today an embroidered heart baby quilt :)

  6. Loooooovvvee them! Hard to pick a fave, but I think I have to go with Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock. :)

  7. Bazynga!!! Love the shirts. And that’s one cute niece.

You really rock the embroidering. I love hand embroidering myself- but I usually put it in my quilts. I keep some in an ice cream bucket with scissors and needles so I can grab it for doctor’s visits, heading to the bus stop, etc.

I am going to be singing “Warm Kitty” all day now.

  8. Must. Have. Spike. Pattern.

Thanks for linking up to Finished for Friday. And I NEED that Spike pattern.

  10. I love these shirts. Too cool!

  11. I love that there are other crafty geeks out there like me! You are making some way cool things. I admit that I own the entire Buffy series on DVD and about flipped out when I opened that gift for Christmas a couple of years ago! LOL.

I’m determined to make my brothers all Nintendo themed quilts of the pixelated variety. It’s on my to do list for next year. Hopefully I can do it, because they would be so awesome!!!
