My sister loved Firefly/Serenity. (Ok, that’s past tense – she’s still loves Firefly/Serenity – even though they took it off the air…) You could almost say she’s obsessed… which is fine. I have tons of obsessions and I’m sure that if I were to sit down and watch Firefly, this sci-fi fan would become obsessed quickly. Proof of the obsession – my sister is naming her soon to be born little girl River. For those of you that are browncoats – you get it. Those of you that aren’t – well it’s still a sweet name. River is a very interesting character from what I’ve seen. Highly Intelligent. Very Random. Quite Disturbed… And seems to carry guns around – a lot. I’m sure if I were a browncoat, I’d quickly latch on to her character.
With all that being said, I thought that my neice should have a Serenity/Firefly inspired piece in her growing wardrobe. So, using an awesome little doodle, I stitched the ship onto a onesie.
I think it came out looking great, albeit a few mishaps, but authentically handstitched with love for little River. All stitched in pink DMC floss in honor of womanhood!
I’ve got 4 more onesies and a ton of bibs, but not sure what to stitch on them. My robots would be cool. Gotta find something geeky.

Ahh! I LOVE it! You really did a great job and this is by far my favorite outfit that little River owns =) I’m truly too excited!
That is A.W.E.S.O.M.E! My hubby and i caught on to that series after we saw Serenity, and boy are we hooked! We are pretty much addicted to anything Joss Whedon does, though. Great job on the onesie, and I LOVE the name River! Fantastic. I am bookmarking this and showing my hubby when he gets home from work!
