Well I’ve already completed one thing on my list of goals I’ve set for the summer! I took each of the pictures below of my great kids from our huge stash of photos and followed a great tutorial on how to use watercolor masking to make these awesome pieces of art!
This was my first one to attempt. I took a pic of Kacie in her dance costume for the recent recital.

I cropped it to show her face (and attitude), used photoshop to play with brightness and contrast, printed it and put it on my lightbox. After using the masking on my watercolor paper I painted away with blues and greens.

We loved how it turned out – so I had to try one with Shawn. This is a pic of him doing the “Boom, Boom – Firepower” thing you see on Night at the Museum 2! LOL He’s so funny.
I zoomed in again to crop his face and then got a little artsy with my rays and went witht he yellows and oranges!

This is definately something I’ll do again. I absolutely have fallen in love how abstract they are! I think they would make great personalized presents for family and friends!
Keep Kraftin’,
Kandra
